Accounting Internship
Overview:
Synergy Research Labs, Inc. (SRL) is a deep-tech startup pioneering the next generation of high-power electronics by commercializing gallium oxide materials and devices. Our mission is to address the global shortage of high-power semiconductors that enable energy-efficient and miniaturized electronic systems.
Job Description:
SRL is extending an opportunity to provide undergraduate and graduate accounting students with an immersive educational experience in the accounting operations of an early-stage, federally funded technology company. Accounting interns work alongside SRL leadership to gain exposure to how a growing deep-tech business tracks costs, maintains financial records, and meets the accounting requirements attached to government contracts and grants.
This internship is designed to supplement academic coursework through structured mentorship, supervised projects, and practical exposure to accounting practice in a startup manufacturing environment. Interns are assigned educational projects that connect classroom concepts in financial and managerial accounting to how those concepts are actually applied in a company with contract cost accounting, capital equipment, and federal compliance obligations. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Learning Opportunities:
• Accounting operations and recordkeeping in an early-stage technology company
• Government contract and grant accounting fundamentals, including direct and indirect costs, allowability, and compliant timekeeping
• The month-end close process, account reconciliation, and supporting documentation

• Assist with supervised preparation of schedules, spreadsheets, and summaries used in internal reporting
• Observe and assist with contract and grant invoicing and contract cost tracking processes
• Attend accounting, business operations, and commercialization meetings when appropriate
• Present project findings at the conclusion of the internship
Preferred Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline
