Overview:

Synergy Research Labs, Inc. (SRL) is a deep-tech startup pioneering the next generation of high-power electronics by commercializing gallium oxide materials and devices. Our mission is to address the global shortage of high-power semiconductors that enable energy-efficient and miniaturized electronic systems.

Job Description:

SRL is extending an opportunity to provide undergraduate and graduate students with an immersive educational experience in deep-tech commercialization, market research, customer discovery, and startup operations. Business interns work alongside SRL leadership to gain exposure to the process of translating advanced semiconductor technology into commercial opportunities across defense, energy, electric mobility, aerospace, data centers, and industrial power electronics.

This internship is designed to supplement academic learning through structured mentorship, supervised research projects, and practical exposure to business development in a technical startup environment. Interns are assigned educational projects that promote professional growth and provide insight into how early-stage semiconductor companies evaluate markets, customers, funding opportunities, and strategic partnerships. Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with supervised market research across power electronics, semiconductors, advanced materials, energy, defense, mobility, aerospace, data centers, and industrial applications

• Organize company, customer, contact, and application research into structured tracking documents

• Conduct supervised research on potential customer segments, pilot partners, strategic partners, investors, grant programs, and government funding opportunities

• Support preparation of market summaries, competitive research notes, customer discovery briefs, and internal business development materials

• Assist with maintaining organized records of research findings, outreach status, and commercial opportunities

• Attend business development, commercialization, and technical meetings when appropriate

• Present project findings at the conclusion of the internship

Preferred Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Engineering, Public Policy, or a related discipline

• Strong written communication, research, and analytical skills

• Comfortable organizing information in spreadsheets, documents, and presentation materials

• Interest in semiconductors, advanced materials, energy, defense, manufacturing, or deep-tech startups

• Ability to learn technical concepts and translate them into clear business language

• High attention to detail, professional judgment, and ability to work in an ambiguous startup environment

Program Duration:

• 15-20 hours/week during academic semesters; scheduling is flexible to accommodate coursework

• 12-16 weeks during semesters, 13-15 weeks during summers

Compensation:

• This is a unpaid internship created for the development and learning opportunities for the person applying.
