Business Internship Application
Overview: Synergy Research Labs, Inc. (SRL) is a deep-tech startup pioneering the next generation of high-power electronics. We are the first company to commercialize high-quality native gallium oxide epiWafers alongside high-performance device architectures, addressing a critical global shortage in next-generation electronic materials. Utilizing our proprietary scalable growth process, SRL delivers UWBG materials at unprecedented growth rates and quality to enable ultra-high voltage, energy-efficient, and miniaturized power systems.
SRL is offering a hands-on Business Internship for students interested in deep-tech commercialization, market research, customer discovery, and startup operations. Interns will work closely with SRL leadership in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment to help evaluate commercial opportunities for next-generation power semiconductor materials and devices. Located in Urbana, Illinois.
Compensation: SRL’s Business Internship is an unpaid position offered to university students

Responsibilities:
Assist with supervised market research across related industries
Organize company, customer, contact, and application research into structured tracking documents
Conduct supervised research on potential customer segments, pilot partners, strategic partners, investors, grant programs, and government funding opportunities
Support preparation of market summaries, competitive research notes, customer discovery briefs, and internal business development materials
Assist with maintaining organized records of research findings, outreach status, and commercial opportunities
Attend business development, commercialization, and technical meetings when appropriate
Present project findings at the conclusion of the internship
Preferred Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Engineering, Public Policy, or a related discipline
Strong written communication, research, and analytical skills
Comfortable organizing information in spreadsheets, documents, and presentation materials
Ability to learn technical concepts and translate them into clear business language
High attention to detail, professional judgment, and ability to work in an ambiguous startup environment
Program Duration:
15-20 hours/week during academic semesters; scheduling is flexible to accommodate coursework
12-16 weeks during semesters, 13-15 weeks during summers
